Hidemi Tokutake, born in Japan, is an artist who began her ceramic journey at the Seto Ceramic School in Japan. Later she traveled to Australia, where she studied for five years and gained her Master's in Ceramics in 2014 at the National Art School and became a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC). Demi has had solo exhibitions in Australia, Taiwan, Denmark, Scotland, and the USA, and has taken part in group exhibitions in Japan, Australia, the USA, Belgium, Morocco, and Korea. And now she will exhibit her work in Delft. Hidemi Tokutake's work is built up organically by hand. The basis often consists of a combination of a kind of chalice from which wild growth appears to emerge. Her unceasing search for color and character in her glaze effects make the work exciting, placing the objects in a series which makes the viewer curious for what will follow. Here we see a large of variation in color, size and manner of display, hanging or standing. A beautiful, wild Japanese garden in ceramic. The collection for this exhibition was partly created during a Delft artist-in-residence period in the summer of 2023.

On Friday, April 26, the artist was present in the gallery from 4:00 PM to explain her work to her public.
