Dirk Romijn

He creates his sculptures from geometric shapes combined with flowers. The vase and flower are a unity. While designing, the flower forms the basis for him, particularly the characteristic properties such as the strength and length of the stem, as well as the colour and shape of the flower itself. He looks for a special glaze for each vase, and compiles the glaze himself. He sometimes gives the illusion of evoking a different material:he has produced a bottle with a dark green glaze resembling glass for example, and his tulip cage resembles cast iron.Only by touching them can you be certain they are ceramics.
