Exhibition ZhenXi

 “Beauty overcomes differences. Sharing fosters growth.” The name ZhenXi in Chinese means ‘act with love, devote your heart to something’. It is clear from the work in this exhibition that the two artists, Li Zhen and Xi Meng – the Chinese name of Simone Haak – are infused with this sentiment. Simone, who together with Joka Doedens is the founder and owner of Terra Delft Gallery, met Li Zhen in 2012. Terra in China 2016

Today, 14 September 2016, Simone Haak, owner of Terra Delft Gallery, is leaving to China with five artists of the Gallery. After a visit to Shanghai, where of course the ceramic department of the Shanghai Museum is visited they travel further to Jingdezhen, twinned city of Delft. In the international ceramic institute Sanbao-Jingdezhen, they can work and blend into the ever-lively ceramic climate of the city where high quality porcelain is produced since the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), in blue and white. Mural by Wenna in Delft

On the wall of the Stanislas College in Delft a hugh mural is accomplished by Wenna from Beijing. During her artist-in-residence stay in Delft, in 2015, Wenna was invited to realize a large wall painting in Delft. A wall of the Stanislascollege was decorated, in cooperation with students and neighbours. The colourfull painting tells a now a days fairy tail, specially made up by Wenna for this location.

Summer 2012, the start of Terra in China…

A comprehensive article was published in the Craft Arts Magazine #86 2012 written by Colin Martin about the artist-in-residence project by Terra last summer in the Ceramic Art Institute Sanbao, Jingdezhen. During 6 weeks 5 artists from Terra Delft Gallery worked there daar in cooporation with Chinese artists to accomplish a collection to be shown this autumn at the Ceramic Fair Jingdezhen 2012 and the Shanghai Art Fair 2012.
