Inspired by a richly decorated mediaeval reliquary, she creates her organic looking objects. The original form of a barrel and its function of storing and protecting something is barely recognisable in her work. The skin resembles that of an extremely slowly growing branch of coral thanks to the countless little holes in it.The whimsical growths throw up associations with illustrations in old plant books, coral, sea anemones and objects washed up on the beach. She often adds irregularly shaped pearls, daisies and gold lustre for decoration purposes. Work of Heather Park is part of the collection of the V&A Museum in London.
