Louise Hindsgavl

2019 participant in exhibition Figurative Sculptures 12-10/16-11 at Terra Delft

Having been educated in the tradition of functional Scandinavian design, she has chosen a completely different path: to narrate a story and evoke emotions. Using toys and bric-a-brac, she composes a surrealist collection with an overdose of human weaknesses. Violence, mutilation, mutants, partially human with the head of an animal, contrast with the delicately arranged figures of pure white porcelain. The tableau is on a pedestal, which on the one hand unites the characters and on the other invites the observer to view the piece from all sides. It is a modern-day conversation piece, as found on the tables of the 18th-century middle classes.
