Tales of our time in figurative ceramics
From March 17 to April 14 three artists will show their figurative ceramic art at Terra Delft Gallery. The monochrome white porcelain statues by Louise Hindsgavl from Denmark tell the story about the challenges of modern live. Her titels are eloquent:Mom’s in the kitchen (but she ‘d rather be somewhere else about all these women not living their dream but gradually are committed to housekeeping tasks, or My modern consumer about the desire to own more and more things, which bounds here literal with metal wire to obligations.
The porcelain sculptures by Tim Breukers are also story telling. It is like looking at a scene through binoculars. He starts with a slab of clay to be used as a white sheet of paper and builds up his sculptures like a collage of daily live importances. Playing around while creating he copies slats and glueing catches into porcelain. The artist lets the material speak for it selve, how it drips, breaks, tears, flakes or deforms, as if it wants to collaps. Het instortingsgevaar brengt het beeld op spanning.
De tegenstelling tussen teder en ruw zegt volgens Peter Keizer iets over de tijd waarin we leven: Beware of me, het beeld waar geglazuurde handen teder de bal aanraken die ruw en ongeglazuurd is, of Kluif aan mij, een grote kluif, ruw in zijn vorm, maar zacht in platinaluster geglazuurd, waardoor hij speelgoedachtig aandoet. In de beelden is het paletgebruik van zijn schilderijen te herkennen, waarmee hij als schilder expressief uiting gaf aan zijn beleving van de natuur. Enkele schilderijen van zijn hand zullen de tentoonstelling completeren.
