Characteristic of her representations are the abstract, autonomous objects of mathematical proportions. They seem to float, despite their robustness. Their interface is the point at which the shape is in balance. The dimensions and ratios reflect the harmonious balance of natural growth processes. Harmony is also recognizable in the use of colours, often blue and green tints, and in the game played by light and shadow on the skin.

In May 2012 objects of this artist has been shown as part of the Terra Delft Gallery presentation at the art fair COLLECT 2012 in the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea, London.

This ceramic exhibition can be seen from September 22 to October 20 2012 in Terra Delft Gallery.

This summer Mieke was invited by Terra to be one of the five artists doing a six week artist in residence at the International Ceramic Institute Sanbao-Jingdezhen in China. In October and November the works will be shown in China on the Ceramic Fair Jingdezhen and on the Shanghai Art Fair 2012. In spring 2013 a special exhibition of this project Terra in China – China in Terra will be shown in the Old Church from Delft.

Besides her work as ceramic artist since 2002 Mieke de Groot is also teaching on the ceramicschool SBB in Gouda.
