Various materials melt to form the whole, in his assembled works. He joins together iron and ceramics to complete his figures with imaginary tools. Favela, a stooping ceramic man hauling a wooden house, has an expressiveness guaranteed to move any viewer. An aged affect is achieved through the weathered wood, the rusty colour of the iron and the subdued, matte colours of the ceramics. He applies many layers of paint, the top ones being the softest in colour. The singular form of the figures, nearly always male, gives his work universal significance.
